With Florida being a penninsula, it’s safe to say that there’s plenty of beach space and ocean to satisfy even the most fantatical of beach goers. We’re constantly in contact with it, whether it be a strong wind coming from the coast, or the smell of salt in the air. Seagulls and seaweed are just another part of the experience. Hurricanes are just more rainy storms, not titular beings of destruction. That’s the Florida experience. So, if your wedding and reception are going to be in Florida, why not bring some of the elements of the sea into play? The oceans always calling, so why not answer it?

Stick with me now. I’m not saying have your ceremony and reception during a hurricane, although, if that’s your thing, more power to you. Let’s keep it simple, to a smaller scale. Why not have a seafood raw station at your reception? Even if your reception is in a hall located away from the ocean, you can bring the same senses with you to wherever you are just by incorporating certain dishes and selections that embody the ocean. A raw bar might sound kind of offputting, but it doesn’t have to be. There can be a wide selection of choices laid out upon it. Think oysters, jumbo shrimp, mussels, and thin sliced octopus. It doesn’t have to be all raw options either, as not all guests are going to be in love with raw seafood. You can also serve up some cooked dishes that will chill on the raw ice station, such as clam chowder, a nice oyster stew, scallops, hardy crab legs, and cured salmon. The point is this, if you want your reception to haave some element of the beach and the sea, then a raw bar is a great way to go. You can offer your guests raw, unbidled sea food, or some of the more tame cooked option, and everyone will be sure to think of the sun, sand, and waves with each bite. Renaissance knows all about soaking up the sun and sand, so let us bring that feeling to you.
